Mlinda has commissioned 40 solar powered mini grids, with an installed base of 800 kWp in Gumla district, Jharkhand. The mini grids have not only provided access to clean, reliable, affordable, 24X7 electricity for villagers but have also powered micro-enterprises in the villages to enhance local incomes. The grids have powered over 1090 productive and commercial loads in the operational villages and have positively impacted over 6000 rural and tribal lives in Gumla.
During the present Covid19 crisis, the mini grids have gone beyond pure electricity supply to the operational villages and contributed to growth in productive loads and local incomes. Recognising the valuable services provided by Mlinda mini grids and the ecosystem of livelihood services and local trust that Mlinda has created, the District administration of Gumla officially approached Mlinda to continue the mini grid supply ‘under essential services’ across 40 operational villages to ensure:
Team Mlinda is working round the clock, relentlessly, to provide essential services to local communities. They are respecting social distancing, safety, health and hygiene norms. Mlinda field engineers and technicians, based out of their respective villages, are instrumental in keeping the mini grids, up and running. These grids are the lifelines of powering the households/local shops, farming/ irrigation activities and supplying edible mustard oil to the households and rural markets. Along with District administration, Mlinda has received accolades and recognition from the local governance bodies and villagers too. The local Panchayats and Gram Sabhas have expressed gratitude that Mlinda has continued to work with them through challenging times.
